Scotch Shortbread

Scotch Shortbread

makes: about 4 dozen (depending on size of cookie cutter)
preheat oven: 350
prep time: 20 minutes
cook time: 15-20 minutes
items you'll need: cookie cutters, flat counter space, large bowl, food coloring (if you want to color your frosting), rolling pin, cookie sheets


1 1/2 cups butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups flour
Betty Crocker Creamy White Frosting

1. Mix butter and sugar until well blended
2. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time
3. Mix until dough forms a ball
4. If dough is crumbly, add 1-2 tbsp of butter
5. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured surface
6. Cut into shapes
7. Place on ungreased cookie sheets
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes...you don't want them to get brown on the bottom
9. Let cool completely and frost
